Toasting Our Success

The 2007 WineMaker International Wine Competition, held in Manchester, Vermont, was a rousing success for the 39 medalists from New Jersey, who took gold, silver and bronze for their hand-crafted wines. And of those NJ winners, 7 made their wines at The Wine Room of Cherry Hill – just another assurance that we must be doing something right!

Congratulations to the Tate, D’Auria, Nice and Walker groups for their winning wines. The winning California varietals included: Cabernet Franc (gold), Trilogy Blend (gold), Brunello/Cab Franc (gold), Petite Sirah (silver) Meritage blend (silver), and Super Tuscan (bronze). We also proudly announce that our first attempt to enter a Chilean wine into competition, our Chilean Malbec, earned a bronze medal for The Wine Room. Olé!

Competition results can be found in the Aug/Sept 2007 issue of WineMaker Magazine. Forty-four American states, 8 Canadian provinces, and 4 countries were represented this year. “Over the course of three days, experienced judging panels worked through 641 flights (3,422 different wines), examining each wine using the UC-Davis 20-point wine scale evaluating appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste and overall impression.” A substantial endeavor for certain, and we thank WineMaker Magazine for it, and we toast the success of our wines and winemakers!
