More Medals!

The 2008 WineMaker International Wine Competition, held in Manchester, Vermont, was a rousing success for the 48 medalists from New Jersey, who took gold, silver and bronze for their hand-crafted wines. And of those NJ winners, 9 wines were made at The Wine Room of Cherry Hill – just another assurance that we must be doing something right!

Congratulations to the Krapels, Spica, D’Auria and Nice groups for their winning wines. The winning California varietals included: Syrah (gold), Trilogy Blend (gold), Brunello/Cab Franc (Silver), Eldorado Cty Cabernet (silver), Port (silver), Old Vine Zinfandel (bronze), Barbera / Petite Sirah (bronze) and Merlot blend (bronze). A Silver medal was also won for a Chilean Syrah. Olé!

Competition results can be found in the June 2008 issue of WineMaker Magazine. Forty-eight American states, 8 Canadian provinces, and entries from Australia, Italy and Israel were represented, making this year's competition the largest wine competition of any kind - commercial or amateur - in North America. “Over the course of three days, experienced judging panels worked through 822 flights (4,321 different wines), examining each wine using the UC-Davis 20-point wine scale evaluating appearance, aroma, taste, aftertaste and overall impression.” A substantial endeavor for certain, and we thank WineMaker Magazine for it, and we toast the success of our wines and winemakers!
